ACIM T.27.7 Examining the Self Concept to experience the Dreamer of the Dream  If the sole responsibility of the miracle worker is to accept the Atonement for himself, and I assure you that it is, then the responsibility for WHAT is atoned for cannot be yours. The dilemma cannot be resolved except by accepting the solution of undoing.Anytime I wish for the script to go a certain way, I have made a judgment of form, and hold an expectation. Any expectation is a choice to forget my one intent, and reflect the belief that there is something of value outside my Self. Idols are quite specific. But your will is universal, being limitless. And so it has no form, nor is it content with its expression in terms of form. Idols are limits. It is not form you seek. What form can be a substitute for God the Father's Love? You do not want an idol. It is not your will to have one. It will not bestow on you the gift you seek. When you decide upon the form of what you want, you lose the understanding of its purpose. So you see your will within the idol, thus reducing it to a specific form. Yet this could never be your will, because what shares in all creation cannot be content with small ideas and little things. Let us think for a moment on Lessons 24 and 25. ALL ego goals spring from the self concept and have nothing to do with our own best interests, but everything to do with maintaining the self concept. Any form, including tangible ones (i.e. body, house, car, etc.) and even mental attributes (i.e. memory, reasoning, etc. ) used by the ego, are idols. By first becoming aware of the idols, and then ceasing to invest in them by giving a unified purpose to the world, they fade away and one remembers Spirit. ACIM therefore does not ask us to seek for love or truth, but instructs us in seeking and finding the false, or the blocks to the awareness of love. What a joy it is to find blocks and be free of them! To seek a special person or a thing to add to you to make yourself complete, can only mean that you believe some form is missing. And by finding this, you will achieve completion in a form you like. This is the purpose of an idol; that you will not look beyond it, to the source of the belief that you are incomplete. God knows not form. What idol can be called upon to give the Son of God what he already has? Your will IS granted. Not in any form that would content you not, but in the whole, completely loving Thought God holds of you. When every concept has been raised to doubt and question, and been recognized as made on no assumptions that would stand the light, then is the truth left free to enter in its sanctuary, clean and free of guilt. There is no statement that the world is more afraid to hear than this: "I do not know the thing I am, and therefore do not know what I am doing, where I am or how to look upon the world or on myself." Yet in this learning is salvation born. And What you are will tell you of Itself. ACIM Workbook Lesson 138 The Peace of God is Mine By Greg Ough  'The Peace of God is mine if I so choose to experience it'. This is my seeing of late. I have discovered something so simple, so beyond the world and all its words and meanings it confounds me as to how I missed it. Trying to find peace and efforting, by definition is the absence of peace. So where is peace to be found? Well it's right here, the space between the words, sounds, feelings and objects in view. It is the quiet, still, present space that is my mind, the mind of God.Attention is the key. Where have I placed it? Is attention on the data, the words, the feelings, objects and all the meaning given – the temporal; or is my attention on the space of infinite, limitless, timeless loving mind that I am? There is nothing in all eternity that doesn't come and go in that present space, the one mind that I am. So in practical terms I see the need to choose to place my attention there, on the Kingdom. So I sit quietly, select neutral, peer between the thoughts and feeling, no matter what they are, and there it is... the peace of God, the stillness of God, as always, present right NOW. A loving joy fills my heart every time. WOW!....is it that simple? Well yes, but I've got to really want it. Greg, the person, is really identified with, addicted to, all the old data, all his meanings. So when restless, irritable, fearful thoughts and feelings arise, I know my attention is off! Off the Kingdom! From there the choice is mine. The peace of God is mine... if I so choose it, desire it. "Heaven is the decision I must make, I make it now, and I will not change my mind!" I was fresh from giving the Sunday Church Service and full of the joy of the Spirit flowing through me. For me the Church service was a living testimony to the truth that I really can trust the Spirit. I followed one prompt after another and the words and parables just flowed from my mouth effortlessly. The songs the Spirit had prompted, the readings and prayers were just sweet perfection. I can trust.For me I feel the symbol of Minister has nothing to do with bodies, a church, a congregation or the need for me to be or do anything in and of myself; for in truth "I" can "do" nothing. My journey with the Holy Spirit seems to be one of an ever deepening sense of trust and a falling deeper and deeper into a love of which I know not of. I give thanks for what feels like a reflection of the call of my heart to know myself as I truly am. I look forward to joining with anyone who feels so called. Amen. |
